Oh, success didn't last long The hard drive has totally crashed, absolutely dead. Totally different problem to the first unless fixing the first caused the second, I don't know but I'll have to buy a new computer tomorrow. Thin is I've now totally lost everything on the c drive
That is always the trouble Clive - the losing of everything - I have started backing everything up on a usb stick - every painting etc is on there - sorry to hear it - hope you get sorted out - it is a pain when they play up - this is a new laptop but it crashed after using it for a few months and I lost a lot of work then - we had put a pirate copy of word in unknowingly (we thought it was valid when someone lent it to us) and I think pirate anythings mess it all up - I wouldnt put anything in nowadays without checking the validity - but yours was different with it being old - best of luck with it all x
You called me Clive again!!! XD Most of my Photomanips are backed up on an external hard drive and I think all *TimeWizardStock's photos are on the external drive as well. I think I have a lot of data files and letters and things which are on the c drive though. At the moment I can't find my copy of microsoft office, I searched everywhere but I'm so disorganised. Setting up a new computers always rather time consuming. This latest problem is odd as the first one was definitely the power supply and it worked perfectly until I swithched it off - when I rebooted the hard drive was dead and the bios can't ever detect it! I don't think you can get a virus from a power supply lol
Sorry about the Clive thing - I talk to Clive a lot - must have him on the brain Derek - apologies!
I find setting up new computers or sorting out old ones VERY tedious - I always think it is wasting my time when all I want to do is paint ot manipulate!
I do hope most of your stuff can be saved or found - our old computer died and I lost a lot last year - we both bought the little usb sticks then - I just have to remember to save on to it! x
No probs with the Clive thing, it give me a little smile yesterday anyway I do hate setting up new computers, it always takes days. I had a lot of software on the dead on and I'm sure I'll not be able to find all the disks. Also I've just realised all the photoshop brushed I used are now lost - n - don't even mention getting the internet connection working again, it should be simple but it alwaystakes me hours!
I know Derek - I did it all recently - setting up the email account had me in bits - I tried to set up different ones for each of us and gave up in the end - I asked Sky and they said they had no knowledge to fall back on - then froend told me and I checked andit was one box unchecked that should have been - but in the meantime I lost all the address!
I have a yahoo email account now and all the addresses are on there so they are on the Internet and cant be lost again! - Good luck with it all - hope you find your discs and all x
Well, we're up and running in a way. I have internet, e-mail, photoshop and a copy of works that has compatability issues! I loaded an old copy of works I found as I can't find may office disk and I'm not paying £100 for another copy! I've lost a lot of stuff on the other computer and of course I'm going to have to find and download all the photoshop brushes again. I haven't even found the internet favourites button on vista yet!
