Print rejected, thanks, v6, contests

Journal Entry: Sat Jul 12, 2008, 8:17 AM
Everything

My latest picture got rejected for prints! I got permission from the stock artists but forgot to ask them to e-mail prints-permissions@deviantart.com! When we communicate via dA mail it seems a total bind to ask someone to sent a e-mail. Well I bet lots of you don't bother asking the stock artist to sent the e-mail as well, so take note, it you don't your print will get rejected. Please don't sent be links to the rules of anything like that, I know what they are and I know it was my fault!

Thank you to everyone who faved Water Spirit, I really appreciate your support and am really sorry I can't thank everyone individually. I spent seven hours yesterday doing thank yous and only got through a small percentage  of the 2500 messages I had.

V6
At first I totally hated v6! I don't hate it any more but I'm not particularly impressed either! The biggest gain seams to be for non-subscribed uses who now have the much improved message handling, doesn't really seem much improved for us subscribers though. I much preferred the deviations sorted my artist, the new sort by artist is bugged and doesn't work. Also, since I watch many stock artists and clubs that submit large numbers of deviations in v5 you could view what to wanted then delete everything with two clicks now you have to delete each deviation individually, just more time consuming and worse. I also miss having 25 massages at the same time and having them time stamped. I'm not keen on everything together although being able to view messages in reverse order is really good. under the old system some on my messages used to get buried for weeks! Speed wise it's ok with firefox although I would have preferred it a little quicker. Last nigh though when firefox started playing up like it always does after I've had it all all day, I switched to IE and it was so slooooow! If you are using IE and find it deathly slow, switch to firefox!

Contests:

!cryptic-sacrifice is running an awesome "Twisted Tales" contest. It is open to all digital work, has great prizes and doesn't have any stock use restrictions so it should be very easy for everyone to make an entry. She doesn't have a lot of entries at the moment so please go take a look! I've copies the rules and prizes below!

One example of a “Twisted Tale” is Shrek, Im sure you have all seen it. A beautiful princess waiting for her knight in shining armor to come and save her. Instead of a knight, she gets an ogre (but the ogre happens to be a lot more kind hearted then the prince. Never judge a book by its cover)! ^_^

Rules:

:star: Only one artwork per artist.
:star: Can only be in DIGITAL ART form: 3D, paintings and airbrushing, mixed media and photomanipulation.
:star: You must put in the description of your artwork that it’s for this contest, and explain how it suits the theme of “Twisted Tales.”
:star: Must be a NEW artwork, especially made for this contest.
:star: Donators ARE ALLOWED to enter, as are judges!
:star: All entries MUST BE SENT VIA NOTE to me *cryptic-sacrifice

Bonds of SocietyWorking our lives away from day to day,
From the bonds of society never able to sway,
Though each of us dreams od making our break away.

The bonds we each fight hold us in place,
As the clouds we look at with upturned face,
But the bonds know no slack or no grace.

We work and work while we bide our time,
Our body and minds stuck in the grimem
While some of us fine solice for our souls in rhyme.
InspirationInspiration came to me at night.
Inspiration came with the dawn.
Inspiration has found me,
since the day I was born.

I don't know when it's coming,
or where I will be found.
But I beg it keeps searching,
as my emotions abound.

Sometimes it leaves me,
for weeks at a time.
But I won't panic or worry,
I know all will be fine.

Inspiration will return in due time.
Inspiration loves my soul and mind.
It would never shut them out
even though I may cry or shout.

Inspiration helps me live each day.
Never holds me up, never breaks my heart.
In me it will live to be my escape.
To express to the world my inner place.
The Flight of Nocturne She watched the young men enter the forest from the branch on which she sat as they cautiously moved along the dark forest path. Each holding a torch out in front and towing a horse behind they ventured towards ger seductive wrath.
Nocturne wasn’t particularly devilish this night, yet couldn’t resist such a seemingly vulnerable bunch. In her mind she had already gone through at least ten ways to separate them, and yet another twenty of how to proceed with each one. Her smile only grew as she listened to them speak.
The first young man warned the others: “Watch out boys, they say that the beautiful but deadly Nocturne lives

I'm not thrilled with v6 either. Especially since they removed the time stamp on Fav's ; that feature was important to me. For the most part, I'm not resistant to change, but this is an abomination :disbelief: Bah Humbug!

:iconpygar:
Yeah, they've taken away so many good things! Why? If you are not subscribed this this change is great but if you are subscribed it's rather iffy at best!

The Administration's been posting journals about How Cool V6 is. I'm at a loss for words because we're now stuck with it :pissedoff:

Everytime I've asked for prints permission they've either sent the email without me having to ask or one person asked in their journal to note them the email wording they'd have to send so they could just copy and paste it. Was the person new to stock or allowing prints? I hope it goes through ok once they send the email :aww:

With the new message center, I'm sure they'll fix the view deviations by artist soon enough. I do love how it adds a new one to the bottom when you remove one on the page, saves having to reload the page. Also, if you hold shift and drag you can highlight multiple messages/deviations then go down to the bottom and remove all selected :aww: Still, it would be nice if there was a quick way to highlight all on the page quickly :D

You're very lucky! The most popular stock artists know what to do but many don't! I don't hold out much hope for the message centre but we'll see!

I'm glad that you said that about the prints..I didn't know and a print was just requested yesterday..so good to know
Also, my gripes are the same as yours with V6. I feel like the way the new devs are displayed looks like a single file parade...a very long line of thousands that I have to look at one at a time. :-(
separate them please!!!

hope you are having a good day Derek

The have given us one good feature, being able to view messages in reverse order(I used to have messages buried for weeks :)) but they have made so many things worse! The new deviation list is awful. When clubs or stock artists posted large numbers I could quickly scan the thumbs and delete with two clicks, now not only do I have to delete one be one they are mixed with other art so in frustrating I'm likely to delete images I really want to view! I hate it!
Hope you have a good day too!

yes, the club images mixed in with the rest has been the most frustrating part for me too. :-( That is something that was not well thought out I'm afraid. As far as the messages...for me that is not a problem since I am not as popular as you! :blowkiss:
